Case Study – Qi Elements

Qi Elements — Brand & Website Relaunch

Summary

We partnered with Qi Elements (Herndon, VA) to modernize their brand and rebuild their site from a static, hard-to-navigate HTML site into a fast, mobile-first WordPress experience. Scope included identity design, business cards, a style guide, a new website, Microsoft 365 email setup, and low-maintenance content integrations (YouTube + Google Calendar). Since launch, the owner reports more calls and inquiries, and class enrollment has increased.

Objectives

  • Communicate the benefits of Tai Chi & Medical Qigong to adults and exceptional teens.
  • Create a calm, credible visual system that balances tradition and modern clarity.
  • Remove friction: make it simple to discover programs, view the schedule, watch videos, and contact the studio.

What We Delivered

  • Brand identity system: logo family, color palette, typography, usage rules, and print collateral (business cards).
  • Website: UX, copy integration, and Elementor build, with on-page SEO.
  • Content integrations: embedded YouTube channel feed and a live Google Calendar so the owner updates once (in Google) and the site stays in sync.
  • Email: Outlook 365 domain mailbox for a professional, inbox-reliable contact flow.

Brand System

Logo concept

The primary mark is a hand-drawn path rising through mountains toward a radiant sun—an emblem of progress, centeredness, and inner light. It fuses traditional Chinese landscape symbolism with clean, contemporary execution to mirror Qi’s flowing energy.

Color palette

We anchored the brand in Golden and deep Forest/Bamboo greens—earth and wood elements—then added Autumn (energy) and Mist blue-grey (calm). Neutrals in cream/brown ground the system. Together, the palette conveys balance, vitality, and focus consistent with Tai Chi and Qigong principles.
Key swatches used across web and print include Golden, greens, and supporting tints chosen for accessibility and contrast across light/dark contexts.

Typography

We paired a bold, characterful serif for headlines—chosen for its presence and subtle echo of brush-stroke forms—with a clear humanist sans-serif for body copy to deliver calm clarity and legibility. The combination is intentionally “bold yet serene,” supporting mindful strength and flow.

Website Experience

Information architecture & copy

The site is organized around Programs (Tai Chi Fundamentals, Advanced Tai Chi, Medical Qigong), About, FAQs, Resources, and Contact—prioritizing next steps (“View Class Schedule”, “Contact Us to Start”) and plain-language benefits.

Low-maintenance content integrations

  • YouTube channel feed: A grid layout pulls the studio’s latest videos and encourages on-site viewing/subscriptions; the feed sources from the channel ID, so new uploads appear automatically.
  • Google Calendar (Simple Calendar): Students can see the latest schedule without staff having to duplicate updates—events render directly from the studio’s public Google Calendar. The owner edits their Google Calendar, and the site syncs automatically. See the live Resources hub at qielements.com/resources.

Accessibility & performance

We used the brand’s high-contrast palette and typographic scale to keep headlines scannable and body copy readable across devices, while adhering to approved color combinations and contrast checks. Images and embeds are optimized and cached to keep pages fast.

Results

  • The owner reports more inquiry calls and new students after the launch.
  • Content updates are simpler: publish a YouTube video or add a class to Google Calendar, and the site updates automatically.
  • Navigation is significantly more straightforward than the previous static HTML site, reducing friction for prospective students.

Print Collateral

Business cards apply the brand system—Golden + Forest with generous negative space—to carry the same calm authority from web to wallet. The layout leverages the headline serif for recognizability and the sans-serif for contact details and legibility.
