Opex budgeting, also known as operational expenditure budgeting or operating budgeting, is the process of planning and allocating financial resources for day-to-day operational expenses and recurring costs incurred by a business or organization to maintain its ongoing operations. Unlike capital expenditures (Capex) that involve long-term investments in assets, Opex consists of regular, short-term expenses required to keep the business running.
